Perspective. Nature. Memories.

Meet Breanna Olson.
Redefining strength, one moment at a time.
My name is Breanna, and I’m a proud single mother of three amazing kids. I’m also an ALS Warrior. Movement has always been a core part of who I am. In my first career, I was a ballet dancer, and I later explored the vibrant rhythms of flamenco and salsa. I’ve loved being active, whether it was hiking, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, or skiing. The joy of movement has always brought me closer to nature and to my loved ones.
My ALS journey began in 2022, during a memorable hike. As I made my way through the beautiful trails, I noticed my legs felt slower and heavier, almost as if I were moving through mud. This unsettling sensation quickly escalated; I developed a foot drop and experienced severe back pain. It took a grueling 14 months of tests and uncertainty before I finally received my diagnosis on October 3rd, 2023. That day was the hardest of my life.
The road since then has been indescribably difficult. Each month feels like a small loss, a gradual fading of the person I used to be. Yet, through this struggle, I’ve been blessed with the unwavering support of my family and friends. Their love has been a beacon of hope, reminding me of the importance of connection and compassion. I’ve learned to embrace the present and take one day at a time, cherishing the small victories and moments of joy.
One of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had since my diagnosis was a trip organized by Tossin’ Away ALS. This adventure to Vancouver was filled with breathtaking views and unforgettable memories that my family and I will treasure forever. It reminded us of the beauty in life, even amidst challenges.
Through this journey, I’m learning to redefine strength and resilience, and I hope to inspire others facing their own battles. ALS may have changed my life, but it has also deepened my understanding of love, community, and the importance of making every moment count.
