Meet Rodney Seagle.

Army veteran, devoted father, ALS fighter.

Rod was born in 1952. His dad was in the Air Force, so they moved around when he was young. Rod’s dad passed away in 1994 after his battle with ALS. We didn’t know much about ALS and never considered that it could be hereditary.

Rod and I (Sandy) met in 1971 and we were married that same year. Before we were married Rod joined the Army, and we spent our first 2 years of marriage in Germany where our first son was born. After Rod’s Army service we returned to Arizona where Rod went to college and got a degree with a Chemistry background. In 1978 Rod was hired by Salt River Project at the Coronado Generating Station in St. Johns, Arizona and worked there until transferring to the valley in 1991. Rod worked in the environmental department, mainly running the hazardous waste program until he retired in 2007.

While living in St. Johns, we joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rod loved serving in the church. In 1984 we adopted a brother and sister which completed our family.

In March of 2019 Rod was having some mobility issues which led to the diagnosis of ALS. He fought a valiant fight, but the disease moved very fast and by September he was bedridden and was using a CPAP machine to assist his breathing. Rod eventually lost his battle with ALS on December 8, 2019.
